Background

Mathetes Christian training center is an institution set up to train, facilitate and network with Africa indigenous Christian churches and already existing agencies for the evangelization of the African marginalized groups/communities in line with the Lord’s directives to make disciples of all the nations (which includes Africa)and global evangelization as precondition of his return.

It has been observed for long perhaps more than a century Christian mission in Africa both local (home) and foreign has concentrated their work in already churched communities thereby neglecting other needful communities.

Therefore, M.C.T.C was born to respond to this need and help the churches in Africa to take her responsibility of training its people to minister to communities in arid and semi arid areas where majority of non Christians live.

Since M.C.T.C is an interdenominational training institute, we emphasis on universally acceptable principles of Christian ministries theologically and ideologically based in historic Christian orthodox and African perspective.

These include academic training, spiritual formation and development practical ,experience leadership and a well balanced social life. In keeping with the purpose of any institution of higher education careful attention is given to developing the students academically to meet the challenge of modern African society. Major emphasis placed in bible, theology, practical church ministry, inter cultural education and leadership.

Being an interdenominational school , cultural, gender, race, nationality and denominational diversities are accommodated.

M.C.T.C train many categories of Christian leaders and ministers. They include pastors, evangelists, home missionaries, Church planters and other Christian workers.

One, recognizing the impact of humanitarian services in effective evangelism. Two, appreciation of the fact that the message of the gospel of the kingdom of God consist not only salvation of souls but includes all that pertains to education health legislation, politics and economics.

To minister to the whole person M.C.T.C has initiated industrial and technical programmes, targeting young people and pastors spouses. The programme is designed to empower them with technical skills so as to enable them engage in income generating activities. establish sustaining projects and entrepreneurship with an aim of eliminating poverty and ease the suffering of the poor marginalized groups in Africa. Poverty in Africa has been identified as one key constraint which militates against the effectiveness of all the known evangelistic efforts.
